HAVE A BLAST THIS SUMMER working with kids in an incomparable environment! Obviously, Camp Ozark is a ton of fun for kids, but Camp Ozark is also a ton of fun for our staff. At Camp Ozark, we have fun all day long, from the minute we wake up until lights out. We have water slides, ski boats, ziplines, and over 150 other activities for campers and counselors to use to have the summer of their life! As a staff member, you will have the opportunity to not only participate in, but also operate some of these activities.

Haley has served as a Camp Ozark counselor, Top Staff member, and has directed Special Events and the Weekend Program. She currently works in the Human Resources Department, where she serves as a supervisor to the recruiting team. Haley graduated from Mississippi State University in 2013 with a degree in Elementary Education. She loves staff recruiting because it gives her the unique opportunity to travel to many different college campuses and share her passion for Camp Ozark while allowing her to play a huge role in building the best experience for the campers. She loves Camp Ozark and the Mississippi State Bulldogs! She is always ready for summer!
Harbor has been a part of the Camp Ozark staff on our Lake Crew, Top Staff, and has served on our Staff Relations team. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 2017 with a degree in Marketing. Harbor enjoys being on the recruiting team because she gets to visit the current staff and seek out future staff on college campuses. She loves to share about Camp Ozark because it's a place where kids have a blast and form new and lasting relationships. Harbor looks forward to each new summer at Camp Ozark!
After serving Camp Ozark as a counselor and Top Staff member, Mason graduated from Texas A&M University in 2017 with a degree in Sports Management. He has overseen the Ropes Course and Summit and Pines areas while recruiting staff members throughout the year. Mason loves the Texas A&M Aggies, going to the movies, duck hunting, and skiing. He is passionate about Camp Ozark because of the long-lasting friendships he has developed with both campers and staff. He always looks forward to his time recruiting at university campuses and sharing the exciting opportunity to work at incomparable Camp Ozark!
Cameron graduated from Clemson University in 2016 with a Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management degree. He has served as a counselor, Top Staff member, Outdoor Skills Director, and staff recruiter. He's an Order of the Arrow recipient and has twice served as the Caddo Chief. He enjoys following the Atlanta Braves and his Clemson Tigers! He loves being a part of the Camp Ozark permanent staff team because he believes there is no other place in the world where a kid can be a kid like Camp Ozark.
A long-time camper, counselor, and Top Staff member at Camp Ozark, Caroline graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Kinesiology in 2018. She has overseen various waterfront areas such as Wacky World, the waterslides, and the pool. She is an Order of the Arrow recipient who enjoys any type of outdoor activity, reading, and watching college football. Caroline's favorite thing about Camp Ozark is seeing lives changed through deeply-rooted relationships with Christ. She is ready for another incomparable Camp Ozark summer where those relationships can continue to grow!
Merry Grace became a Camp Ozark staff recruiter shortly after graduating in 2016 from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Elementary Education. Prior to joining permanent staff, she served as a counselor and Top Staff member. Merry Grace currently oversees every camper's favorite part of the day, MISH MASH! She has been awarded the Camp Ozark Order of the Arrow and is a fierce competitor. She enjoys sports, running, being outside, and cheering for the San Francisco Giants! Merry Grace says that she loves Camp Ozark because she feels it is a place where campers can just be kids, make new friends, and deepen their relationship with Christ. She believes there is not a more loving, joyful place to spend a summer than the incomparable Camp Ozark!
A long-time camper at Camp Ozark, Ali graduated from Mississippi State University in 2015 with a Kinesiology degree. Ali's love for Camp Ozark led her to be a counselor, a Top Staff member, and now on permanent staff. After serving several years as a Recruiter and Waterfront Director, she is now a Program Director for Ozone and the Ozark Leadership Institute. Ali has received the Camp Ozark Order of the Arrow and enjoys the playing sports, reading, and cheering for her Mississippi State Bulldogs! Because of Ali's long history with Camp Ozark, she comes with a unique perspective and strongly believes in finding just the right staff members in order to fulfill the Camp Ozark mission.
A former Camp Ozark counselor and Top Staff member, Chris is now the Program Director for both the Ozone and Ozark Leadership Institute. Chris graduated from Texas A&M University with a Recreation Park and Tourism Sciences degree in 2014. Chris enjoys the opportunity to assist with staff recruiting to seek out the best college kids from all across the country. He spends his time playing sports, snowboarding, and cheering on the New Orleans Saints. Chris is passionate about sharing the ways his life and faith have been enriched by working at Camp Ozark.
William is a former Camp Ozark counselor and Top Staff member. He graduated in 2017 from Baylor University with a Business Management degree. In addition to being a staff recruiter, William has lead Camp Ozark worship services and supervised the Outdoor Skills program area. He enjoys playing guitar, watching movies, and is a lifelong fan of the Houston Astros. William loves Camp Ozark because he says it pushes him to be his absolute best. He can't wait for another incomparable summer at Camp Ozark!
After serving Camp Ozark as a counselor and Top Staff member, Jacob joined the permanent staff in 2018. He was an Academic & Athletic All-American baseball player and earned his degree in Mathematics from Aurora University. Jacob has been a part of the Camp Ozark EDGE program, and leads many of our float trips throughout the summer. Jacob enjoys playing basketball with friends and traveling with his family. Since his first summer at Camp Ozark, he has displayed a remarkable love for this place and the campers who come through the gates. He is looking forward to another incomparable year at Camp Ozark and seeing the Lord work in the campers and staff.
Joshua is a former Camp Ozark camper, LIT, counselor, and Top Staff member. After graduating from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2018 with a degree in Environmental Engineering and a minor in Mathematics, he joined the Camp Ozark permanent staff. He has worked in several areas of Camp including Lifeline, Special Events, Leaders-in-Training program, and the Ropes Course. Josh is thankful to be a part of the recruiting team to help campers and families experience the Incomparable Ozark difference.
After receiving his BBA from Texas A&M (1970), his MBA from the University of Texas (1973) and his Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from the South Texas College of Law (1977), Sam enjoyed a successful law practice. In 1985, Sam and Susan (along with three small children) left their suburban lifestyle behind and took a leap of faith when they acquired the assets of Camp Ozark. Since then, Sam and Susan have devoted their lives to serving campers and camp families by providing an Incomparable Christian camp environment and experience while encouraging others to establish and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ.
One of Sam greatest assets is his wealth of experience and wisdom across many different fields. Sam has been a successful business owner, lawyer, investment banker, and entrepreneur. A life-long fan and supporter of Texas A&M athletics, Sam has been very involved with the university, serving in many different capacities. Sam was a member of the Corp of Cadets, student senate, varsity baseball team and served as Head Yell Leader during his senior year. Since graduating from Texas A&M, Sam has served on the 12th Man Foundation in a variety of positions including Board of Directors in 2014. While on the 12th Man Foundation, Sam coordinated the redevelopment of the Texas A&M baseball complex, Blue Bell Park and served as Co-Chair of the Kyle Field Redevelopment Committee. Sam is also involved in his church as a Life Bible Study teacher. In addition, Sam has long been involved in mission efforts in Southwest Mexico through Gloria Al Padre and is a sought-after speaker on sexual abstinence for teens and their parents through the Sex, God and Me program.
Sam is passionate about life, his work, his faith and his family. He firmly believes that a person should give 100% to whatever he or she is doing, which is evident by the way he lives his life. His standards are high and his commitment to excellence unwavering. Throughout his tenure as owner of Camp Ozark, Sam has relentlessly pursed excellence in all areas of camp and remains forever committed to making Camp Ozark the premiere summer camp experience in the country.
Susan also brings a wealth of experience to Camp Ozark. Susan has a BS in Nursing from the University of Texas (1971), and a Master’s Degree in Health Education from Texas A&M University (2013) which has helped to equip her for her role at camp. As a Registered Nurse, Susan oversees all of Camp Ozark’s Health and Wellness initiatives. Susan has extensive experience and training in Food Safety and Nutrition, and works closely with Camp Ozark’s food service operation. With over three decades of retail experience, Susan and her team also oversee the Camp Ozark Store and retail operation, and is the creative force behind the vast array of retail offerings. Also a die-hard fan of Texas A&M, Susan has served as President of the Houston Texas A&M Mother’s Club, is a member of the Advisory Board of the College of Education, and attends as many A&M athletic events as possible.
Scott's earliest memories of Camp Ozark were attending family camp with his cousins and relatives in the late ‘70's. In 1984, his father and mother acquired the assets of Camp Ozark, and Scott attended camp throughout his youth. In fact, Scott has experienced camp from many perspectives: camper, dishwasher, Lake Crew director, and Head Boy's counselor. Throughout his Camp Ozark tenure, Scott has been able to observe first-hand the unwavering commitment that both his father Sam and his mother Susan made to the mission and purpose of Camp Ozark.
Scott, along with his sister Angela, oversees all aspects of Camp Ozark. Scott is particularly involved with the Ozark staff, marketing, camper and camp family relations, camper registration and the incomparable Camp Ozark website. Scott is also co-director of the Camp Ozark Foundation.
Scott grew up in the Houston area and attended Texas A&M University, where he served as Head Yell Leader. After completing his law degree at South Texas College of Law, Scott pursued a career in commercial real estate. Eventually he and his partners (including his brother) formed their own company which was later acquired by a national firm. In 2007, Scott and his wife Secily decided to make the same commitment that his mother and father did in 1984 and now he, his wife Secily and his four children live the incomparable Ozark life.
Scott brings great perspective and vision to Camp Ozark. His commitment to pursuing excellence in all areas is a reflection of his passion for making Camp Ozark truly incomparable, and for carrying on the best traditions of Camp Ozark while looking to the future. Scott has immense talent for managing large, complex projects while also paying attention to the smallest detail. Scott possesses a genuine, Christ-centered passion for others, particularly those less fortunate, and a wry sense of humor.
Scott began dating his wife Secily in the fall of 1992 as a result of their Camp Ozark counselor experience. They married in the fall of 1996 and have four children, Sam, Jack, Tucker and Anna Scott. Both Scott and Secily are active in the community, serving in various capacities for Family Point
In 1985, Angela's parents, Sam and Susan, bought Camp Ozark. That first summer, though only 5 years old, Angela took an open bunk in the youngest girl's cabin and has never looked back. Through the years Angela has experienced Camp Ozark as a camper, LIT, counselor, Head Girl's counselor, Kitchen Crew, SWAT team member and Top Staff member. Angela joined the Permanent staff in 2009 after a successful law career.
Angela, along with her brother Scott, oversees all aspects of Camp Ozark. Angela is particularly involved with the risk management, accreditation, and the general camp program. Angela also oversees all of camp's legal and legislative initiatives.
Angela grew up in the Houston area and attended Texas A&M University. After completing her law degree, Angela took a job with the prestigious form of Bracewell and Giuliani. In 2009, Angela decided to make the same commitment that her mother and father did in 1984, and joined the Camp Ozark permanent staff. In 2012, Angela married Stephan Shaw, a practicing attorney in Houston.
Angela brings unparalleled experience and perspective to Camp Ozark. Having served in so many different roles – camper, summer staff member, summer leadership and more – Angela is uniquely suited to see camp from all angles. Additionally, Angela is fiercely competitive (just ask her brothers!), which is borne out in her commitment to make each and every area of camp the best it can be. Angela is tireless in her pursuit of excellence, and is fully committed to leaving no stone unturned in order provide the safest and most enjoyable camp experience possible.
Angela began dating her husband Stephen in 2010, and they were married in 2012. Although Stephan and Angela did not meet at camp (as so many others have done), they did meet through mutual camp acquaintances. Stephan proposed to Angela at the Cross, high above Camp Ozark, and their wedding and reception was held at Camp Ozark. Angela and Stephan have two children, Mack and Susan.
While living in the nearby town of Oden, Arkansas, Gene began working at Camp Ozark in 1979 while still in High School. In 1984 Gene joined Sam and Susan Torn for their inaugural year as owners of Camp Ozark, serving as the camp program director. Except for a short stint in the Peace Corp, Gene has worked at Camp Ozark every summer since 1979.
Gene oversees the entire Camp Ozark facility, including maintenance and new construction. In addition, Gene oversees all camp office operations, including camper registration.
Gene has a gift for managing complex projects, complimented by his great attention to detail and his unwavering commitment to getting things right, in every way, all the time. Gene loves the challenges of working at Camp Ozark, and is particularly passionate about creating new facilities and attractions the campers will really enjoy.
Growing up in Arkansas, Gene has long had a passion for the outdoors and hunting. Gene also loves garage sales and auctions, and is always on the prowl for the next great find.
Gene met his wife, Amy, at Camp Ozark when they were both members of the summer staff. Married in 1988, they have 3 children – Ginny, Callie and Will. Gene and Amy are both very active with their family as well as the local community.
Dave has been a part of Camp Ozark since 1988, when he first began as a cabin counselor. In fact, Dave was the very first Mountain Bike instructor at Camp Ozark! He then served 5 summers on the Camp Ozark Top Staff, and joined the Camp Ozark Permanent Staff in 1995. Dave and Andi now live in Arkansas very near the camp property.
Dave oversees the Camp Ozark media team (both photography and video), and assists with all marketing efforts. Dave manages a variety of summer programs, such as the Camp Ozark LIT program, nightly Special Events, and camper behavior.
Dave grew up in small-town Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma State University. After completing his M.S. degree from OSU, Dave pursued a PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Missouri, but soon decided to follow his heart and commit to Camp Ozark full-time. Dave began dating his wife Andi in the fall of 2013, and was married in fall 2015.
Dave has a gift for connecting with and relating to campers, and plays a critical role in ensuring our campers have a positive and meaningful experience. Dave's greatest joy at camp is getting to know campers and watching them grow in confidence. Dave also loves doing the Morning Show each day!
Originally from Kilgore, Texas, Debbie began working at Camp Ozark in 1985 while a student at Baylor University. In fact, Debbie was one of the very first people hired by Sam and Susan after they purchased Camp Ozark in 1984. Debbie also has the distinction of being the original Mish Mash lady!
With over 20 years of experience at Camp Ozark, Debbie has served as a cabin counselor, Head Girl's counselor, Top Staff and Permanent Staff. Debbie now oversees all aspects of our summer staff hiring, training and supervision. Debbie is also responsible for all HR concerns relating to the Camp Ozark permanent staff.
Debbie has a gift for encouraging and bringing out the very best from our summer staff, and plays a critical role in ensuring our cabin counselors meet the very high standards of Camp Ozark. Debbie's greatest joy at camp is seeing the hard work of staff recruiting result in an incomparable camp experience for the campers, of finding those staff members who can truly make a difference in a camper's life.
Due to her husband's service in the U.S. Marine Corp., Debbie has lived in several different places, coast to coast, while working for Camp Ozark. Debbie currently lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she loves to spend time with her family, attend her kid's sporting events, and run and hike the mountains in the Chattanooga area.
Debbie met her husband, Wade, at Camp Ozark while both were working as counselors, and married in 1990. They have 2 children, Andy and Bailey, and 2 huge dogs, Moose and Molly.
Patrick first connected with Camp Ozark in 2002 as a college freshman. With the exception of a two-year sabbatical to finish graduate school, Patrick has worked at Camp Ozark each and every summer since then. During his time as a member of the Summer Staff, Patrick served in several different roles: younger boys’ counselor, older boys’ counselor, Top Staff, and (perhaps most importantly) a 3-time Osage Chief. While spending each of his summers at Camp Ozark, Patrick triple-majored as an undergraduate at Vanderbilt University before completing his graduate theological studies at Harvard and Duke…and then Harvard again!
Patrick joined the Camp Ozark Permanent Staff in 2009. As a member of Ozark’s leadership team, Patrick helps write and oversee the spiritual development curriculum and ministry initiatives for Camp Ozark and Ozone Ministries. He also helps manage older camper experience and the Morning Activity program.
Patrick met his wife, Katie, at Camp Ozark in the summer of 2007, and they were married in 2010. In 2012, Patrick and Katie welcomed a son, Bhrett. Patrick and Katie both work full-time for Camp Ozark, and love serving all our awesome Camp Ozark families together!
Some of Patrick’s favorite things about contributing to the Camp Ozark family include helping teenagers think through important faith questions, witnessing the life transformation that happens among young people at Camp Ozark, and talking to parents across the country about the Incomparable Camp Ozark experience! Beyond work, Patrick is a passionate sports fan, particularly regarding Duke basketball, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and Dallas Cowboys football. He loves spending time with his family, watching sports, and going to see big-budget action movies.
Originally from Kingwood, Texas, Brad’s first summer at Camp Ozark was in 1995 while he was a sophomore at Texas A&M University. Brad fell in love with the Ozark experience and found a passion for working with kids of all ages in a Christian camp setting. His love for Ozark brought him back for the next eleven years as a counselor, Head Boys counselor, Top Staff, and, after graduating from Texas A&M with a Bachelor’s degree in Bio-Medical Science, as a member of the Permanent Staff.
After spending six years on the Camp Ozark staff as an Assistant Director, Brad went on to spend the next twelve years in public education as a coach, teacher, and principal. Brad received his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from West Texas A&M University in 2011. Throughout these years, Brad and his wife, Ana, stayed involved in Camp Ozark in a variety of ways and, in 2018, made the decision to return to Camp Ozark on a full-time basis.
Brad, now an Associate Director, helps oversee Tribal Competition, assists with the Morning Program, and is involved with helping ensure an incomparable camper experience. Brad is also very involved with staff recruitment and training. His hope is that every camper will gain self-confidence through competition, cultivate life-long friendships, adopt an enthusiastic approach to life, and most importantly, pursue a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Having seen first-hand the impact Camp Ozark has had on his own three children, Brad has a true passion for the mission of Camp Ozark. Brad also has a real gift for relating with campers young and old, as well as being a natural servant-leader for our staff.
Beyond Ozark, Brad is passionate about baseball—particularly the Texas A&M Aggies, the Houston Astros, and the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoys reading, traveling, playing golf, hiking, and fly-fishing. His greatest joy is the adventure of being with his family.
Brad met his wife, Ana, at Texas A&M University in 1995. Married in 2001, they have three sons, John, Jack, and Jude. Brad and Ana both work full-time for Camp Ozark and welcome any opportunity to help campers and families fully experience the Camp Ozark difference!
