STAFF QUICK FACTS

All of our staff go through a 12 day Staff Orientation in May. Our campers come for a variety of durations throughout the summer: We offer five two-week sessions and six one week sessions. As a staff member however, you may apply for partial employment which at minimum is 3 sessions, or full-summer employment which covers the entire duration of the summer sessions. If you are unable to work 3 sessions, please contact staffrecruiting@campozark.com or contact your staff recruiter if you have already interviewed with us. We do take into consideration summer school, studying abroad, internships, and anything else that contributes to your summer plans. We understand that college students are given many opportunities throughout the summer and want to work with you. 

Yes, it is a paid summer job and we are competitive amongst all summer camps! For all staff, room and board is provided (an estimated $500 a session value)

 First year summer staff members receive $250 for Staff Orientation and $275 a week during our camp sessions. 

Completion bonuses are also offered for staff who work 3 or more sessions and fulfill their staff contract. 

Pay by number of sessions: 

2 Sessions: $1,350 

3 Sessions: $2,150

4 Sessions: $2,950 

5 Sessions: $4,200 (this includes our 5th session bonus. See details below) 

**Staff also receive a $200 bonus for working 5th session (July 18th – August 3rd)**

First year staff – 4 references through an electronic link on our website.
I. Professional – employer, supervisor, etc.
II. Personal – coach, youth director, teacher, parent, friend, etc.
III. Personal – coach, youth director, teacher, parent, friend, etc.
IV. Family Member – immediate family member

References are sent automatically. After entering their email address in the reference section of the online application, they will receive an online form that they will fill out electronically and submit through their email link. Applicants are responsible for checking with references to make sure they received the link and are able to complete the form in a timely manner.

After an interview with Camp Ozark, complete your application and submit your references if you have not done so already.

Camp Ozark recruits over 850 college-age students from over 100 schools and universities across the country as well as internationally for our summer staff. Check out our Campus Page to see if we recruit at your school.

There are many factors that go into our application and interview process, but there are a few main criteria:

  Must Love Kids!
     Able to develop fun, positive relationships with campers
     Concern and proactive approach to camper safety (emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual)
     Focus on kids and show them God through your life example

  Must have energy!
     Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control

  Must be a positive, upbeat Christian role model!
     Strong Christian faith and an active relationship with Jesus Christ
     Good character, integrity, and adaptability

  Must have a strong work ethic!

Summer Staff members are responsible for their transportation to and from Camp Ozark. There are three main options for traveling to camp:
1. Drive yourself to camp
2. Carpool to camp with a fellow Summer Staff Member
3. Fly into the Little Rock Airport to then be transported to camp via shuttle bus (only available on limited days)

More information on specific travel instructions will be provided on the myOzark Staff Dashboard after applicants are hired.

Camp Ozark is located 6 miles west of Mt. Ida, Arkansas (40 miles west of Hot Springs, Arkansas) in the scenic Ouachita Lake and Mountain region of west-central Arkansas. Our ideal setting provides easy access to the Ouachita River, the Ouachita National Forest, and Lake Ouachita. 

Top Staff Orientation

This is for all Top Staff and will begin on Thursday, May 8th

Lake Crew Orientation

This is for all Lake Crew members and will begin on Saturday, May 10th

Instructor Specialists Orientation

This is for all Instructor Specialists and will begin on Saturday, May 10th

Returner Orientation

This is for all returning staff members and will begin on Monday, May 12th

Staff Orientation

Summer staff members are required to attend our 12-day Staff Orientation (May 13 – May 24). During Staff Orientation, all staff participate in Certification Training classes. Certification Training Classes are assigned based on position hired. In the spring, our staff are informed of the training class they will be participating in. Staff members are paid for participation in Orientation.

You can receive internship credit in a number of areas throughout a Camp Ozark summer. We have working relationships with several colleges and universities as an accredited intern program. If you are interested in completing an internship at Camp Ozark, email us at staffrecruiting@campozark.com. 

We also have many relationships with companies in many different fields and careers. If you are a returning staff member, we will work with you to find a competitive summer internship which allows you to be able to spend part of your summer at Camp Ozark and complete an internship program. Yes! We have a few different types of time off:

     Between Sessions – Session responsibilities generally end on Saturday around 2 PM and begin on Sunday morning at 9:30 AM.
     Days Off – Most staff members will receive a full day off at some point during the 2 week session.
     Lunch Off – Cabin Counselor staff will have the opportunity to have a lunch and rest period off during each session.
     Nights Off – Staff have a “Staff Time” from 10:30-12 midnight most every night.
